Köpenick celebrates the captain: exhibition reveals the legend!

Today, October 19, 2025, an important exhibition on the historical event of the “Köpenickiade” will open in Berlin. Under the title “The Captain of Köpenick – From Convict to Legend”, the show has been on display in the Köpenick Town Hall since August 15th. Cultural District Councilor Marco Brauchmann expressed his delight at the return of the exhibition, which was housed in Köpenick's old town during the renovation work.

The exhibition focuses on the spectacular events surrounding the unemployed shoemaker Wilhelm Voigt, who occupied the town hall on October 16, 1906. He captured the mayor and had the contents of the city treasury handed over to him. This coup aroused great public interest and was used both in literature and in films. The show highlights the military norms and values in Wilhelmine Berlin and addresses the creation of legends and the tragicomedy of Wilhelm Voigt, who became a “media star” of his time through targeted self-marketing.

Opening hours and location

The exhibition is open daily from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and is located in the Köpenick Town Hall, EG, Alt Köpenick 21, 12555 Berlin. Those interested can contact us for further information museum@ba-tk.berlin.de contact the museum.

New collaboration technologies

While history comes to life in Köpenick, there is also exciting news from the technology industry. Microsoft has introduced innovations in the Teams platform that enable users to improve real-time collaboration through the integration of Loop. Constance Gervais, Product Manager in the Loop team, explains that the new workspaces in Teams channels promote efficient collaboration. In these workspaces, users can develop ideas together, organize content and work on projects as a team.

Particularly noteworthy is the possibility that all members of a team also have access to the corresponding workspaces, which is particularly important in times of changing memberships. Gervais emphasizes that the new features not only make real-time collaboration easier, but also ensure that all Microsoft 365 governance and compliance requirements are met.

To add a Loop workspace to a Teams channel, simply click on the plus sign (+) at the top of the channel, followed by selecting the Loop app. These innovations provide valuable tools for the modern workplace and help teams work more efficiently and flexibly.
