Important pension information: Financial adjustment event!

On Tuesday, September 2nd, 2025, Regine Sommer-Wetter, the deputy district mayor and city councilor for labor, community services and social affairs, invites you to an information event about the financial adjustments when retiring. The event will take place in the “Joy of Life” meeting place at Kadiner Straße 1, 10243 Berlin, from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. The speaker will be Christoph Jetha from the State Working Group for Debtor and Insolvency Advice Berlin e.V. The aim of the event is to provide information about changes in social law and challenges when entering retirement. If you have any questions, the media contact is available by phone at (030) 90298-2843 or by email at presse@ba-fk.berlin.de.

As part of the pension adjustment, pensions will be increased by 3.74 percent on July 1, 2025. This means that the current pension value increases from 39.32 euros to 40.79 euros. The federal government determines the amount of the pension adjustment through a regulation that requires the approval of the Bundesrat. The increase in pensions aims to adapt the pension value, which has been uniform nationwide since July 2023, to economic conditions. Assuming a pension amount of 1,000 euros, the adjustment results in a pension amount of 1,037.40 euros.

Planned changes in the 2025 pension package

On August 6, 2023, the federal government approved a comprehensive pension package for 2025. The aim of the pension package is to secure and modernize retirement provision. Four key innovations are included in the pension package:

Furthermore, with the pension adjustment in 2025, a level protection clause will be introduced, which ensures that the pension level does not fall below 48 percent by 2025. A fundamental alignment of pension values in East and West has already been completed in 2023.

Pensioners will be informed about the upcoming pension adjustment between June 14 and July 23, 2025. In addition to the pension adjustment, pension supplements will also be adjusted as of July 1, 2025. These comprehensive measures aim to stabilize and improve both the current and future living situation of pensioners. Factors such as the wage factor and the net ratios of pensions and wage income, which can influence the pension adjustment, are crucial.

The pension adjustment and the 2025 pension package are part of a long-term strategy to ensure social security in Germany. Further information is available on the respective websites of the responsible institutions: Berlin.de, German pension insurance, and CitizensMoney.org.
