Star hike raises 3,000 euros for hospice help in Reinickendorf!
On September 22, 2025, a donation of 3,000 euros was made to the Hospice and Palliative Aid Katharinenhaus Reinickendorf e.V. This sum results from this year's star hike, which took place on June 27th and was organized as a successful festival. The handover was carried out by district mayor Emine-Demirbüken-Wegner as well as the head of the seniors department, Sanja Cica, and the board representative Rainer Ruths. Hospice director Martin Wiegand accepted the donation, which was rounded up to 2,892.98 euros. The purpose of the donation is to support the support of seriously ill people and their relatives, which is of great importance for the local community.
The star hike gets its name from the past, when participants from various senior leisure facilities set off together to Adelheidallee, which looked like a star from above. This annual event is not only a significant tradition, but also a valuable opportunity to promote local support for hospice care.
Commitment to hospice care
The German Hospice and Palliative Foundation is committed to preserving human dignity at the end of life and supports projects through donations that further develop hospice work and palliative care. Your goal is to maintain autonomy and quality of life until the end of your life. The foundation offers active help for a dignified life and supports the German Hospice and Palliative Academy, which provides important training for full-time and volunteer employees.
The hospice movement in Germany is a citizens' movement that has set itself the task of offering seriously ill and dying people individual support and community. This is strengthened by the DHPV, the German Hospice and Palliative Association, which provides comprehensive information on specialist topics and offers for those affected, as well as supports people who would like to get involved in hospice work.
Dying with dignity
The DHPV views dying as an integral part of life and is committed to ensuring that this happens with dignity. The aim is to guarantee people the greatest possible autonomy in the final phases of their lives, regardless of their age or health status. This also includes creating good political and social framework conditions for palliative medicine and nursing care as well as psychosocial and spiritual support.
The latest donation and the committed work of the foundations and associations show how important it is to make these issues visible in society and to ensure ongoing support for hospices and palliative services. Everyone can contribute through donations or personal commitment to improve the quality of life for seriously ill people and their relatives.
