Open afternoon in the Schottenburg: fun for the whole family!
On Sunday, September 28, 2025, an open afternoon took place in the youth leisure facility (JFE) Schottenburg. This event offered a wonderful insight into the diverse offerings of the JFE, which was aimed at children, young people aged 12 to 27, parents and anyone interested. How reported, the day from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. was characterized by numerous activities and a welcoming atmosphere.
Visitors had the opportunity to get to know the JFE premises, which included, among other things, a girls club, a legal graffiti wall, a band rehearsal room and a recording studio. Creative workshops were also offered, which opened up new forms of expression for the young participants. The outdoor area, which is equipped with a sports field, a parkour facility and an adventure playground, could also be explored.
A variety of offers and catering
The JFE Schottenburg offers a wide range of rooms that can be used not only for leisure activities, but also for sporting activities and creative projects. The large gymnasiums and self-made pallet furniture in the café contribute to the cozy atmosphere. Physical well-being was also taken care of: the café offered fresh waffles, cold drinks and an outdoor grill. Information about this can also be found on the carrier's website WSBA, to find.
The JFE's regular opening hours are Monday to Saturday, from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. During the school holidays there is an extra program and adjusted opening times to meet the needs of young people.
A place of social responsibility
Youth work in Berlin, which is aimed at young people between the ages of 6 and 26, is seen as an independent socialization and educational area in accordance with Section 11 SGB VIII. The focus is on democracy education and the ability to act independently. The Berlin Youth Welfare Office emphasizes that the offers are voluntary, open and geared towards the interests of young people.
A central principle of youth work is participation. The focus ranges from political and social education to sports-oriented and intercultural youth work to cultural education and inclusive practice. The aim is to enable all young people to participate independently and equally, regardless of gender, religion or ethnicity.
With this commitment, the JFE Schottenburg sets standards in Berlin youth work and makes a valuable contribution to the integrative and creative development of young people in the region.
