Winter time in Berlin: change clock and finally sleep for an hour longer!

In the early Sunday, Berlin and Brandenburg will be switched to winter. The clocks are set up from 3 a.m. to 2 a.m., which means that one hour can be slept longer. However, the time change is controversial and is rejected by a large majority of Germans. According to a survey by March, 75 percent of those surveyed spoke in favor of an end to the time change. The EU Commission had already planned to abolish the change between summer and winter time in 2018, but no binding decisions have yet been made. The European governments could not agree on whether they want to keep summer or winter time permanently. The winter time begins on the last Sunday in October and ends on March 31st.
According to a report by rbb24.de, Greenland does not participate for the first time in the change of time. The Greenland government announced that it would introduce a new time zone to move up to Denmark and the rest of Europe for one hour. The time difference between Germany and Greenland will only be three instead of four hours from Sunday. Greenland, which officially belongs to the Kingdom of Denmark, is largely autonomous and has decided to abolish summer and winter. At the weekend, the clocks will only be set up in the small Eastern Greenland town of Ittoqqortoormiit, which will only adapt to the new time zone in March 2024. This procedure was decided by the Greenland government in November 2022.
