Traditional festival in Späth'sche Baumschulen: plants, music and fun!
On September 20th and 21st, 2025, a traditional festival will take place in the Späth’sche Baumschulen in Berlin that will attract garden lovers and families alike. The event, which is open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., offers a colorful mix of gardening ideas, crafts and culinary delights. The district office points out this special press release that highlights the highlights of the festival. Admission is 8 euros, reduced 5 euros, while children up to 16 years old can participate free of charge, as berlin.de reports.
Around 120 exhibitors will be represented on the historic site and present their products and services. Visitors can look forward to a stage program with live music and tastings of exquisite wines. There will also be culinary specialties that will make guests' mouths water.
Diverse offers and program items
A highlight for the little guests are the fairy tale performances presented by the Monbijou Theater in the Black Barn. There is also a craft tent where children can get creative with natural materials. A new area, the Weltacker Initiative, offers an agricultural laboratory for sustainable agriculture that presents important insights into the green themes of the festival.
Another attractive offer is the possibility of taking carriage rides across the nursery grounds. Mayor Oliver Igel will conduct a tour of the new green settlements and lead the opening of the variety garden with 450 trees of different species and varieties.
Visitors can also visit the open-air tree nursery museum, which provides insights into the over 300-year history of the Späth’schen tree nurseries. Demonstrations on the topic of fruit tree pruning and a botany battle for plant identification invite everyone interested to expand their knowledge. Guests also receive expert advice from fruit growers from Thuringia, who offer apple tasting. In addition, pomologist Dr. Hilmar Schwärzel is available to determine the fruit variety.
Creative nature experiences and discounts
The art exhibition “The Thinking of Things” by Franz Christanell in the garden biotope, which is called “Franz his Garden”, creates a creative atmosphere and deepens the experience in the countryside. All program offerings are free after a one-time entry, which makes the visit particularly attractive. Guests also receive a 10 percent discount on all plants from Späth’sche Baumschulen, an additional incentive that attracts plant lovers.
The event marks the start of the best planting time of the year and thus sets an important example for the green industry in Berlin. The Visit Berlin highlights the diversity of what is on offer and invites everyone to discover and experience the beauty of nature.
In addition, the Berlin Staudenmarkt will take place in April 2026, which is one of the most beautiful plant markets in Germany and attracts many plant lovers in the Berlin Botanical Garden in both spring and autumn, as berliner-staudenmarkt.de reports. Here too, visitors can expect healthy plant material and a varied supporting program.
