Theater for young talents: Start your adventure in the House of Youth!

The “Haus der Jugend Zehlendorf” is planning a new children’s theater project aimed at theater-loving children aged 11 to 15. Under the direction of Andreas Schrobitz, rehearsals for the project, which begins on October 13, 2025, are located at JFE Flemmingstrasse, entrance Paulsenstrasse 22, 12163 Berlin. The group includes 12 places designed to enable young talents to discover and live out their artistic abilities.

Participation in the free project aims to have the children perform an independently developed play or exhibition in the coming year. Rehearsals take place every Monday from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. and will continue after the renovation work in the “Haus der Jugend” is finally completed, from October 13, 2025. Those interested can contact the e-mail address jfehausderjugend@ba-sz.berlin.de or register by phone at 030-80909913.

Andreas Schrobitz and his passion

Andreas Schrobitz, the first chairman of the Romy Association e. V., is a driving force in the theater scene. His enthusiasm for the actress Romy Schneider began in 2004 with the film “La Piscine”. Influential artists such as Marlene Dietrich and Hildegard Knef had a lasting influence on him, and reading Schneider's diary deepened his admiration for the actress. The association has set itself the goal of honoring Romy Schneider's artistic achievements and keeping them alive.

Julia Hübner, the association's second chairwoman, is also influenced by the Sissi films. She discovered Romy Schneider in particular through the film “Swimming Pool” and developed a passion for her films. Janine Schneider, the secretary, began her interest in Romy at the age of 10 through the Sissi trilogy and has since compiled a comprehensive collection about the actress' life.

Cultural participation for children and young people

Another important concern is the cultural participation of children and young people in Berlin. In the Lichtenberg district, 20 projects will receive performance bonuses from the KiA program of the Senate Department for Culture and Europe in 2023. This program supports children's, youth and puppet theaters as well as performing arts actors in order to create more cultural offerings for young audiences, especially in districts with few resources.

The funded projects include, among others, the performances of “Die Klanguste”, “Kokon” and “Hansel and Gretel”. These productions are part of an initiative that focuses on opening up long-term venues for children's and youth theater in Lichtenberg and thus further promoting cultural education in the capital. The first performances as part of the KiA program began on May 15, 2023 at various venues in the district.
