Klingsorstrasse shines again: renovation successfully completed!
The Steglitz-Zehlendorf Road and Green Spaces Authority has announced the successful completion of the road renovation on Klingsorstrasse. The renovation work that took place between Birkbuschstrasse and Hindenburgdamm was completed on September 17, 2025. The construction site work originally began on July 28, 2025 and was completed early. This renovation was urgently needed to ensure traffic safety on this important artery.
The renovation was carried out in two construction phases, each of which required Klingsorstrasse to be completely closed to vehicle traffic. However, pedestrians were able to pass the route throughout the construction period. What is particularly noteworthy is that Brahmsstrasse remained accessible throughout the entire work.
Details about the renovation
Overall, the measure included the renovation of the road surface layer. The first construction phase, which affected the section between Birkbuschstraße and Brahmsstraße, ended on August 24, 2025. The second construction phase, which covered the area between Brahmsstraße and Hindenburgdamm, was planned from August 25 to September 19, 2025. During the work, diversion routes for motor vehicle traffic were signposted so as not to have too much of an impact on traffic flow.
The construction period also included the use of traffic lights to regulate traffic on Brahmsstrasse to ensure orderly traffic during construction work.
A step towards sustainable mobility
Klingsorstrasse is an important part of the transport infrastructure in the district, and the work carried out is in line with the long-term goals of the city of Berlin. As part of the urban development plan for mobility and transport (StEP MoVe), which runs until 2030, the Berlin Senate is pursuing the goal of slowing the trend towards more vehicle traffic. The focus is increasingly on strengthening public transport and promoting pedestrian and cycling traffic.
The environmental network's share of all distances traveled is currently 74%, with the goal of increasing this to 82% by 2030. Berlin is also aiming for a zero emission zone in order to only allow environmentally friendly vehicles into the city center. The renovation of Klingsorstrasse can therefore be viewed as part of this overarching strategy, which is intended to improve the quality of life in the city.
By reopening Klingsorstrasse to traffic, those responsible hope to increase traffic safety and have a positive impact on the daily lives of residents and passengers.
