Sports park at Rodelberg: Treptow-Köpenick invites you to get involved!
The Treptow-Köpenick urban development office has commissioned an office to develop a site development concept for the “Sportpark am Rodelberg”, as berlin.de reports. The sports park is to be built at Neue Krugallee 219 directly next to the Baumschulenweg swimming pool. The aim is to create a publicly accessible sports park that offers a wide range of sports and exercise options for different target groups.
The development of the sports park is part of the urban development funding program “Living Centers and Quarters” (LZQ), which aims to increase the quality of life in cities. In this context, the challenges that cities face, such as demographic change and the need to adapt existing infrastructure to new social and economic conditions, are also addressed bmwsb.de.
Participation opportunities for citizens
A central component of the development process is citizen participation. This starts on September 1st, 2025 and ends on September 28th, 2025. Citizens and residents are expressly invited to actively participate. Participation in online participation requires registration on mein.berlin.de. A map is available to locate development ideas as well as a survey on usage and suggestions for improvement.
Additionally, a public planning workshop will be held on September 23, 2025. All feedback from participation is collected and carefully evaluated to ensure that the community's interests are incorporated into the planning.
Integration into urban development
The construction of the “Sports Park am Rodelberg” is an important step towards securing the urban development infrastructure in Treptow-Köpenick. The city is faced with the challenge of designing inner cities, district centers and open spaces that are generation-friendly while at the same time taking climate protection and social concerns into account, as baume-ecke-koepenicker.de further explains.
The support from the federal government in the form of urban development funding is seen as important in order to implement the necessary changes and adjustments and to sustainably increase the quality of life in the region.
