Spandauer Kickers triumph in the Mayor's Cup - a celebration of football!

Celebrations can take place in Spandau on October 15, 2025. The Spandauer Kickers prevailed in the final of the Mayor's Cup against SC Staaken and secured the prestigious title. The final game took place last Sunday on the Spandauer Kickers grounds and was a highlight in this year's sports calendar.

The Mayor's Cup is traditionally a central part of the Spandau sports calendar. Every summer, the tournament brings together numerous football clubs in the district and captivates both players and spectators. This year the tournament was organized by the AG Spandauer Fußballvereine 1957, which did an excellent job as usual.

A successful tournament

The tournament took place from July 14th to 27th and attracted great interest. The spectators came in large numbers to watch the exciting games. In his speech, district mayor Frank Bewig praised the mayor's cup as a symbol of community, commitment and sporting ambition.

The roles of Matthias Zimmermann and Elmar Koch particularly stand out. Both were instrumental in the success of the tournament and made a significant contribution through their voluntary work. For his 25 years of volunteer work, Matthias Zimmermann was awarded a Buddy Bear at the final game, recognizing his services to football in Spandau.

Acknowledgments and outlook

A big thank you also goes to the president of the Spandauer Kickers, Jürgen Pufahl, as well as Stefan Pagel and the entire Spandauer Kickers team, who were responsible for the smooth organization of the event. Their efforts not only made the tournament possible, but also helped to strengthen the community of football clubs in Spandau.

The positive response to the Mayor's Cup shows that this annual event plays an important role in the social and sporting life of the district. The anticipation for next year is already noticeable and it remains to be hoped that numerous clubs and spectators will take part in the tournament again.
