Pro-Palestinian activists storm ZDF studio: Police in action!
On November 7, 2025, pro-Palestinian activists gained unauthorized access to the ZDF capital studio in Berlin. Around 15 activists were involved in this action, entering the studio on Unter den Linden through an open entrance. Despite police requests to leave the building, they did not respond.
The police are on site with several emergency services and vehicles and are setting up a security presence while the activists remain in the studio. ZDF had previously made an offer to talk to the demonstrators, but this was not accepted. Instead, the activists flew a loudspeaker that was attached to the ceiling of the foyer with helium balloons. Children's screams could be heard from there.
Police operation and possible consequences
After a few minutes, the activists were finally escorted out of the building by the police. She is now being investigated for trespassing. This situation sheds light on the tense debates surrounding the Middle East conflict and freedom of expression in Germany.
The activists are also planning a street rally and have distributed flyers with slogans such as “Gaza is your fault too.” On the back of these flyers it is also claimed that the radio contributions do not serve the people, but rather the interests of those in power.
The term “pro” in the context of protests
In several languages, the word “pro” denotes an advantage or supporter of a particular concept. It has roots in the Latin “prō,” meaning “on behalf of,” and is commonly used in various contexts. Particularly when discussing pro-Palestinian actions, “pro” can indicate a desire for support for the Palestinian cause. In this context, it is important to consider the advantages and disadvantages of such protest actions, as they have not only political but also social consequences.
The demonstrators in Berlin make it clear through their actions and messages that they are strongly committed to their beliefs and want to stimulate discourse about support and responsibility on both a national and international level.
