Next stop: dream job! Discover opportunities for young people from Lichtenberger

With the start of the project "Next stop: dream job!" A valuable perspective will open in the Lichtenberg district between August and December 2025. This initiative aims to network young people closely with local companies and to show them new professional opportunities. The business development as well as the representative for the good work of the Lichtenberg district office initiate this project in cooperation with the Schlaufuchs Berlin e. V. and other partners.

The project offers a variety of formats and offers that promote direct encounters between young people and companies. The events include, among other things, discussions in the Lichtenberg Youngsters entrepreneurial lounge as well as trainee get-togethers, parents' evenings for career orientation for migrant communities and events in the pop-up space “Licht Punkt”. The aim is not only to provide information, but also to promote networking and support during the training phase.

Insights into the professional world

A highlight of this initiative is the “Next Stop: Dream Job” event, which specifically targets students from the 8th grade onwards. The participants have the opportunity to get to know different job profiles from Lichtenberg. Admission to the event is free, but prior registration is required. The schedule includes two rounds: the first takes place from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., followed by another round from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Each participant can only select one company in each round.

For those who would like to arrive with their own vehicles, the meeting point is at 4:45 p.m. at Louis Motorrad on Siegfriedstraße 65.

Challenges in the world of training

The initiators of the project are aware of the challenges that bring about finding and maintaining trainees for companies. Missing professional ideas and unrealistic expectations often lead to dropouts. Therefore, the cooperation between schools, youth professionals and local companies is of crucial importance in order to avoid these breaks.

The youth employment agencies on whose support the project relies aim to improve the integration opportunities of young people into the world of work and society. They work closely with schools and other cooperation partners to offer comprehensive and coordinated support. The concept has become established throughout Germany and enables decentralized adaptation to regional needs.

Overall, the project "Next stop: dream job!" on how important it is to give young people practical insights into different professions and to support them in choosing their future career path. The joint use of business development and educational institutions ensures that the young people receive the best possible orientation.
