Autumn festival at the Storchenhof: Game, fun and sustainability for families!

This year's autumn festival will take place at the Storchenhof on Saturday, September 27, 2025. The place of this colorful event is the place in front of the Storchenhof Center in Berlin Alt-Hohenschönhausen-Süd, more precisely at Hauptstraße 9/9. In the opening speech, district mayor Martin Schaefer (CDU) will praise the hospitality of the district and focus on the various offers that are intended to address both families and residents.

The autumn festival program offers a wide range of activities. In addition to a musical framework, creative and informative hands-on and information offers are an important part. Children and adolescents can look forward to exciting actions, such as face painting, glitter tattoos, a graffiti lounge and action-packed games. The "chillecose" offers space for relaxing, while the "Labor Neumann" Laboratory opens playful insights into the world of physics.

Focus on diversity and sustainability

A central concern of the autumn festival is to promote sustainability. This focuses on up -cycled products, which should strengthen the awareness of visitors for environmentally friendly practices. The Hohenschönhausen history workshop will also be represented and present historical materials that give guests an insight into the past of the district.

In addition, visitors can expect advice on the topics of aging and care, as well as a variety of social meeting places with creative offerings. The organizers of this lively afternoon are the Alt-Hohenschönhausen neighborhood network, the Alt-Hohenschönhausen district coordination, the Protestant Tabor and the Catholic Holy Cross congregations, which are represented by the Lichtenberg district office and other partners such as HOWOGE and the housing cooperative NEUES BERLIN e.G. be supported.

Common efforts for a sustainable future

In the larger context, sustainability plays an important role in Berlin's political decisions. The city recognizes the challenges of the climate crisis, species extinction and social injustice. Berlin has therefore committed itself to the 17 sustainability goals of Agenda 2023, which were set by the United Nations in 2015. The development of a Berlin sustainability strategy to implement the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) is a further step towards taking the city's long-term goals into account. The involvement of important stakeholders via the Sustainable Berlin Implementation Alliance is considered essential in order to tackle these challenges together.
