Third Fair Market in Lichtenberg: Celebrate sustainability on September 13th!
The third fair market will take place in Lichtenberg on Saturday, September 13, 2025. The event will take place from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Tuchollaplatz in Kaskelkiez, 10317 Berlin, and opens with an opening speech at 12 p.m. by district mayor Martin Schaefer (CDU). The Fair Market focuses on sustainability, fair trade and regional products and offers a platform for exhibitors from the areas of fair trade, the environment, sustainable consumption and social commitment.
The event takes place as part of Fair Trade Week 2025, which runs from September 12th to 26th. This week of action has the motto “Act fairly – experience diversity!” and aims to make the diversity of fair trade tangible and to address its dimensions in the context of current political and ecological challenges. Berlin.de reports that the market's program also includes hands-on activities, music and culinary offerings.
Fair Week Goals
The Fair Week 2025 plans to bring the dimensions of fair trade to the fore. Issues such as protecting biological diversity and supporting sustainable farming methods are particularly emphasized. These approaches contribute to the achievement of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 15), particularly with regard to equitable and sustainable agriculture.
Another important aspect is the diversity of people who stand behind fair trade products. The stories and challenges of smallholder farmers will be highlighted to raise awareness of their role in global food security. The Fair Week invites producers, traders and consumers to actively participate and discover the diversity and positive effects of fair trade.
