Neighborhood day in Charlottenburg: exchange, tips and waste disposal!

The next Kieztag will take place in Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf at Mierendorffplatz on Thursday, June 26, 2025. From 1 p.m. to 6 p.m., residents can dispose of their broken and old items free of charge. This initiative is organized by the Education for Sustainable Development Office (SBNE) in cooperation with the Berliner Stadtreinigung (BSR) and the Kiezbüro Mierendorffinsel (Dorfwerkstadt e.V.). berlin.de reports that this Kieztag is an excellent opportunity for citizens to easily and conveniently drop off bulky items close to their place of residence.

Accepted materials include furniture, carpets, mattresses, electrical appliances and old textiles. However, things such as construction waste, cast iron bathtubs, car tires, batteries and liquid pollutants are excluded from acceptance. During Kieztag there will be an exchange market for well-preserved items, where things such as board games, toys, vases, dishes, bicycles and small furniture can be offered. bsr.de emphasizes that items not taken with you are put into the re-use cycle and sold, for example, in the BSR used goods department store.

Diverse offerings on site

The event not only offers a platform for exchanging items, but also other initiatives. The WERK_RAUM bicycle workshop collects discarded bicycles that can be repaired or used as spare parts. The water bar from the a tip:tap initiative will also be present and provide refreshments. The public order office will be on site with an information mobile to offer citizens information on waste separation and avoidance. BSR experts are available to answer questions to ensure residents have trouble-free waste disposal.

In addition, the NUK coordination office provides information about important topics relating to nature and environmental protection. The SBNE presents the SBNE separation mobile, which can be requested free of charge and helps to promote waste separation.

For those who need assistance with transporting bulky waste, we recommend contacting the neighborhood office in advance. This is possible by calling 030-344 58 74 or by email at kiezbuero@dorfwerkstadt.de. Another important note: Bulky waste may only be handed over directly to the BSR during the specified times. Storage outside of these times is considered illegal waste disposal.
