Interactive children's concert: celebratory focus on children's rights!

On November 20, 2025, the concert hall at Zellestraße 12, 10247 Berlin will open its doors for a very special event: the interactive children's concert for Children's Rights Day. The concert starts at 6:00 p.m. and admission is free. The aim of the event is to raise awareness of the importance of children's rights and to focus on children's voices.

The program includes a mixture of music contributions, singing and listening. Children from the audience and from the stage will share their thoughts, wishes and ideas about children's rights in short interviews. The aim is not only to entertain those present, but also to actively involve them in the discussion about the rights of children.

The meaning of Children's Rights Day

Children's Rights Day is celebrated annually to commemorate the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, which was adopted over 30 years ago. This convention guarantees fundamental rights that all children should have. However, a survey by the German Children's Fund shows that many children and young people in Germany only have a superficial knowledge of children's rights. Only 22 percent of those surveyed said they were “quite knowledgeable” about children’s rights and could name individual rights. 67 percent only know children's rights by name, while 9 percent have never heard of them. These numbers illustrate the need for initiatives such as the interactive children's concert.

The discussion about children's rights also has political relevance. In 2024, many young people in Germany voted for right-wing populist parties, which raises questions about the stability of democracy. Jonte (17) and Tamara (16), members of the children's and youth advisory boards of the German Children's Fund, will discuss the challenges and opportunities of children's rights together with Sebastian Krumbiegel, an ambassador for children's rights and singer of the band Prinzen.

Invitation to everyone

The Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg music school invites everyone interested to come to Children's Rights Day, bring questions and celebrate this important occasion together. The interactive concert not only offers entertainment, but also a platform to reflect on the issues of children's rights and their importance for society. Be there when children raise their voices and bring their rights into the public eye!
