Health self-help day in Lichtenberg: discover tips and offers!
On October 14, 2025, the Health Self-Help Day will take place in Lichtenberg under the motto “Strong together – take your health into your own hands”. The event is organized by the PflegeEngagement Lichtenberg contact point and the self-help contact point “Synapse” and aims to provide citizens with information about offers and support options in health and care self-help. This initiative is particularly important for relatives of people in need of care, who often need support and exchange.
The district councilor Dr. Catrin Gocksch (CDU) emphasizes the importance of self-help groups. These groups not only offer space for exchanging experiences, but also for discussing topics such as long-term care insurance, legal frameworks and health issues. A supporting program with information stands from various self-help groups and local health providers will provide participants with practical everyday help.
Diverse program and digital innovations
The health self-help day, which takes place from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Kiezspinne, Schulze-Boysen-Straße 38, 10365 Berlin, offers a varied program. This includes lectures and discussion groups, including by Petra Stunkat (InKontakt – Dementia) and Frank Schumann (District Control Center Dementia-Friendly Municipality) about dementia. There are also hands-on offers such as laughter yoga and taster courses for functional training (dry gymnastics), which give visitors the opportunity to actively participate and gain new perspectives.
A central highlight will be the state competence center LEBEN - CARE - DIGITAL (Care 4.0), which presents digital technologies to support everyday care. These digital innovations are particularly valuable in times when relatives often live in rural areas or are under a lot of time constraints. Virtual self-help groups, such as those offered on Wegweiser Dementia, also offer a protected exchange for caring relatives. The ability to network via the “in.kontakt” app is a welcome addition.
Online nursing courses and helpful resources
For many relatives, care represents a particular challenge. The Ververbraucherzentrale emphasizes that online care courses offer a flexible opportunity to find out about care issues. These courses are geared towards various topics such as caring for people with dementia, stroke or age-appropriate living. They offer an ideal complement to face-to-face courses, but do not enable direct exchange with other participants.
While the Health Self-Help Day in Lichtenberg offers an excellent opportunity to actively find out about self-help groups and get in touch, digital offers and resources provide valuable support in everyday life. The extensive information and personal contact can help overcome the challenges in care.
