A wild police operation shook Lichterfelde yesterday! A driver and his three passengers fled at breakneck speed from a checkpoint when they were discovered on Schloßstrasse shortly before 4 p.m. The reason? The delivery vehicle was illegally in an absolute no-parking zone. Without hesitation, the driver sped from a gas station onto the road and caused an accident with another car. Despite a collision with a police car, which caused minor injuries to the officers, he continued his risky escape.
The fugitive ignored several traffic lights at excessive speed and drove along sidewalks while passers-by had to jump to the side. The chase led through Tempelhof to Kreuzberg, where the driver ultimately had to hide in a dead end. While its occupants fled on foot, police found cannabis in the van and seized the vehicle. Despite a large-scale search, the perpetrators remained unidentified. The police are now continuing to investigate the escapees.
