First entrepreneur prize in Berlin: Diversity and Female Power in focus!
On August 14, 2025, the female entrepreneur prize “Female Power and Diversity at Work” will be awarded for the first time, initiated by the Turkish Entrepreneurs & Craftsmen e.V. (TUH e.V.) and the German-Turkish Society e.V. (DTG e.V.) in Berlin. This award aims to honor the success stories of migrant female entrepreneurs who actively contribute to diversity in Berlin and prove themselves in their independence. The prize is under the patronage of District Mayor Martin Hikel and Dr. Sigrid Nikutta, board member of Deutsche Bahn.
A central concern of the award is to encourage women with a migration background to exploit their entrepreneurial potential. In today's society, migrant entrepreneurs are often confronted with special challenges, which include language barriers, difficulties in accessing financing and the lack of networks.

The recognition of such initiatives is particularly important since intercultural competence is now considered a key competence in global cooperation. The importance of intercultural skills is constantly increasing in professional life and educational institutions. Companies that promote such skills can better develop international markets and increase innovation through diversity.
Intercultural competence as a key qualification
Intercultural competence includes the knowledge of cultural differences, empathy and the ability to respect and effective handling of people from other cultural imprint. The main characteristics include tolerance, respect, empathy and communication skills that can be divided into a wide variety of models. Studies show that these skills are increasingly also mentioned in job advertisements as a central requirement and thus have to find greater attention in today's quaternary economy.
The constructive handling of cultural diversity is also of growing importance in society, with the four key points in particular knowing, setting, skills and ability to reflect. Companies that take care of these topics can not only avoid misunderstandings, but also promote their talent for innovation and strengthen the customer relationship with a better cultural understanding.
In summary, the upcoming award ceremony of the Women Entrepreneurs' Prize shows that promoting women's independence and strengthening intercultural competence go hand in hand and therefore play an important role in Berlin's social and economic development.
