Discover Berlin: Exciting city and nature tours in autumn!

The adult education center (VHS) Tempelhof-Schöneberg is expanding its offerings for the fall semester of 2025 and is offering an attractive program of city and environmental tours. Participants are offered a variety of opportunities to learn about the history and nature of Berlin and to actively participate in guided tours. This is reported by the Berlin website, which provides regular information about the district's activities.

A particular focus is on the historical tours, which deal with central events and developments in the region. The offers include, among others, the tours “650 Years of Lichtenrade through the ages”, “75 Years of the Freedom Bell” and “End of the War in 1945 in Berlin-Tempelhof”. In addition, district tours are offered in popular neighborhoods such as the Bavarian Quarter, Lichtenrade, the Alte Mälzerei and the Rote Insel.

Diverse topics and languages

The tours that are offered in simple language are particularly interesting. These deal with the history and presence of the political Berlin and the Berlin Wall memorial. In addition, nature tours and excursions are on the program in the autumn months, in which participants have the opportunity to take part in a mushroom determination in Brandenburg or to observe birds in Marienfelde. The bird train in southern Berlin is also discussed. The entire offer is also available in English and French.

The VHS Tempelhof-Schöneberg attaches great importance to environmental education and personal and vocational training. According to the environmental calendar website, the events take place in both Berlin and in the surrounding area and are aimed at adults and young people aged 15 and over. Some events are specially designed for parents or grandparents with children or grandchildren. The participants have to register in advance and pay the fee because registrations at the meeting point are not possible.

Environmental calendar and family friendliness

A valuable source of information is that Environmental calendar Berlin, a free online portal that is operated by the Nature Conservation Foundation Berlin. It offers an extensive, up-to-date range of environment and nature, including approx. 10,000 annual events for various age and interest groups.

Families will find numerous excursion tips, ideas for children's birthday parties and information about leisure activities such as exhibitions, workshops, bicycle tours and forest walks. Special educational offers are also provided for school classes, daycare centers and after-school groups.

For more information on the tours and excursions, interested parties can see the flyer "Guided tours and excursions" on the VHS website. In addition, a monthly newsletter is informed that presents new courses and offers.
