in Berlin it is bubbling! Today the legal committee of the Bundestag discusses the national implementation of the corporate sustainability reporting Directive (CSRD), and the pressure from the Federal Association of Sustainable Economy (BNW) is huge! A call to the quick and ambitious implementation of this EU directive-because every delay costs trust!

"With every day on which the weakening of our sustainability goals is discussed, we are gaming valuable trust in Germany!", criticizes Dr. Katharina Reuter, the managing director of the BNW, urgently. The CSRD is intended to ensure that companies will report far beyond mere financial figures in the future. This is regarded as central axis for the sustainable modernization of our economy . The support for this far -reaching reform is growing in the economy - and this is no coincidence!

A call for diversity in the test business

Under the pressure of critical votes, the BNW urgently demands improvements in the current draft of the national implementation. In particular, the planned monopoly position of the large auditing companies in the test business is met with violent criticism. "It cannot be that only the 'Big Four' can take the exams in this decisive phase!" Warns Reuter. This could be extremely expensive, especially for small and medium -sized companies.

"Politics must also include our qualified environmental and sustainability appraisers: Inside the test process- their expertise is indispensable!" Said the tireless use of the BNW. If the exams are carried out by more experts, this not only increases the quality, but also promotes competition and makes the implementation of the CSRD requirements for medium-sized companies practical!

SME in focus: Support required!

not enough! The small and medium -sized companies that are indirectly affected by the reporting obligations are under immense pressure. Politicians have to act here! "You urgently need planning security and support!", The BNW demands and proposes comprehensive training programs and practical guidelines. Financial aid would also be a crucial step to make it easier for SME to get started - so that they are not lost in the jungle of the regulations.
