The revolution of the cloud: artificial intelligence on the rise!

world -shattering changes are in progress! Artificial intelligence (AI) has conquered the cloud world and redefined the future of cloud computing. According to the latest "Cloud Monitor 2024" from KPMG, an incredible 97 percent of companies that use cloud services use their AI solutions via Cloud providers. The days of the outdated data centers are counted, because only measly 26 percent build their AI strategies on these dinosaurs!

The cloud becomes the norm!

Hardly any company can escape the cloud! Proud 98 percent of German companies with 50 or more employees are already active in the cloud. Hybrid models are the big favorite and make it possible to draw advantages from public and private cloud solutions. With its cloud strategy, over half (57 percent) pursues the goal of enormously increasing IT security. Almost every second company wants to score through digitization of internal processes and optimization of the costs. 52 percent rely on a cloud-first strategy, while 23 percent even want to switch to a cloud-only strategy.

The way to more security and performance

The choice of the right cloud provider becomes a race for security and stability! 70 percent of the companies state that performance and stability are at the top of their decision. Trust in security and compliance are even essential for 69 percent. Public cloud users attach more importance to the independence of their provider. This is particularly important for companies that rely on hybrid models where the performance and safety of the provider are decisive.

And where is the provider's data center? Another crucial point! As in the previous year, almost 60 percent of companies have a clear preference: their data center should be located in the EU legal area.

The advantages of the cloud are unmistakable!

The companies report amazing savings: 67 percent achieve high to very high IT cost reductions through cloud uses. But be careful! 21 percent of large companies with over 5,000 employees have to struggle with increasing IT costs through cloud computing. Even more remarkable: Almost 60 percent of companies invest half or more of their IT budget in the cloud! For large companies there are even 64 percent who are at full risk from their cloud services.

The importance of ESG aspects (environment, social affairs, corporate management) is also not underestimated: 77 percent of companies consider ESG to be important or very important in cloud use. For large companies with 5,000 or more employees, it is even 84 percent who anchor this idea in their strategy.
