Shock in Wilmersdorf: Emergency vehicle collides with Kia – four injured!
Four people were injured in a dramatic accident in Wilmersdorf yesterday afternoon, including a police officer seriously. A police car, on its way to an attack alarm, was racing through slow-moving traffic on Konstanzer Strasse when the driver had to swerve into oncoming traffic. At that moment, a 41-year-old Kia driver wanted to turn left on Wittelsbacherstrasse - a collision was inevitable!
The Kia was literally hit by the police car during the collision, pushed a bollard onto the sidewalk and the driver had to be freed from his vehicle. He was taken to hospital with painful broken bones. The police officer in the back of the car suffered serious trunk and arm injuries and was flown to hospital by rescue helicopter. He and his passenger, who both had a breath alcohol reading of 0.0 per mille, were treated on an outpatient basis and then had to stop working. Konstanzer Strasse between Zähringer Strasse and Brandenburgische Strasse remained closed during the rescue efforts. The investigation into the accident is now being continued by the police.
