Hate crime in Charlottenburg: Man beats young people after an argument
On the night of yesterday, an argument in an arcade on Joachimsthaler Strasse in Charlottenburg escalated dramatically. A 43-year-old man clashed with several young people around 11:30 p.m. After an insult that led to a heated exchange, the perpetrator asked the 19-year-old youth a question about his nationality and then hit him in the face with his fist. The young man suffered a hematoma but did not require medical treatment.
During the subsequent check, the police found that the 43-year-old had an extremely high alcohol content of around 2.2 per mille. The State Police of the Berlin State Criminal Police Office has now taken over the investigation to clarify the background to this incident.
