Dramatic rescue operation in Gropiusstadt: Three injured in an apartment fire!

Three young people were injured in a dramatic apartment fire in Gropiusstadt this morning. At around 4:50 a.m., witnesses alerted the fire department and police when the fire broke out on Sollmannweg. A brave 55-year-old neighbor opened the burning apartment door and found a 17-year-old whose life was in danger. She was immediately flown to the hospital in a rescue helicopter.

Another 17-year-old jumped out of the apartment window to save herself, while an 18-year-old escaped the flames on his own. All three were taken to clinics for inpatient treatment. The fire department was able to extinguish the fire, but it also spread to the apartment above and made several apartments uninhabitable. The investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing; the fire commissioner of the Berlin State Criminal Police Office has taken over the investigation.
