Second night the fire devil: 36 vans in Berlin on fire!
In the night of June 17, 2025, the Berlin fire brigade moved out to a large -scale deployment on two company premises. A total of 36 vans were set on fire, which indicates a possible attack. The fire brigade was able to quickly extinguish both fires, but there was significant damage to property, and luckily there were no injuries. At three in the morning, 17 Telekom van burned on a depot on Buchberger Straße, Lichtenberg at three in the morning. Flames broke out on several fire spots and in the meantime a fire was reported almost simultaneously in the parking lot of Amazon in Britz, where 19 vans were on fire. After extinguishing work, the fire brigade handed over the deployments to the police, which immediately investigated. The police also check a political background of the deeds.
The risk of arson is not new in Germany. According to a study by the Federal Criminal Police Office in April 2025, the cases of arson have increased steadily since 1995. Police statistics regularly record such incidents and show trends in various regions of the country. In the meantime, there are always similar incidents in Berlin. One example is a suspected arson attack on the van of a large mail order company last month, in which a letter of confession appeared, which is not known in this current case.
Investigations and property damage
The property damage caused by the fires amounts to several hundred thousand euros. According to the first reports, the total damage is estimated at around 800,000 euros. To have triggered the fire on the company premises of Amazon and Telekom indicates a strategic approach, especially since the fire brigade's operations management described the spread of the fire as favored by the close parking of the vehicles.
- 17 van of Telekom in Lichtenberg affected
- 19 van from Amazon in Britz burned
- Immediately after the fire, the police points were handed over
- so far no injuries reported
The topic of arson remains a current and explosive topic in Berlin. The police will continue to investigate whether political motives were involved and whether these acts can be placed in a larger context. In view of the increasing number of such incidents in recent years, it is crucial to take the security aspect for companies, employees and the general public seriously.
