Viewed according to age groups, 81% of the 16- to 49-year-olds and 74% of 50 to 64-year-olds support the Germany ticket.

With regard to political support, the left and the Greens are the strongest supporters, followed by the SPD supporters. Even among the voters of the AfD, there are 67%, which are for retention. This support is particularly relevant because the Minister of Transport of the Bund and the countries will be advised on the future financing of the Germany ticket in Berlin next Friday, which currently costs 58 euros per month.

Financing the Germany ticket is a central topic. The federal government and the federal states currently pay 1.5 billion euros a year to compensate for loss of income from transport companies. However, this regulation is only laid down by the end of 2025, which deprives the federal states of planning security and reliable financial support. The Bavarian Ministry of Transport has already pointed out the tense budget and makes it clear that it is not possible to provide more than 1.5 billion euros per year.

Over 13 million people are already using the Germany ticket, and a price guarantee and a return to a price of 49 euros are requested by the Green Group.

It is estimated that the change of passenger numbers from car to public transport could lead to annual CO2 savings of 4.2 to 6.5 million tons.

For the future, the initiative is that the Germany ticket is also available as a semester ticket in a discounted form from the summer semester 2024. In addition, employers can offer the Germany ticket as a job ticket and thus contribute to the attractiveness of the offer with a grant of at least 25 percent.

Overall, the future of the Germany ticket remains uncertain, in particular due to the current financial challenges and the need for clear long -term planning.
