Turkish cult brand Mavi sets new standards for sustainable jeans

The popular Turkish jeans brand Mavi has proven last year that fashion and sustainability can be combined. Mavi was the first clothing brand in Turkey with a “Double A” score on the A-list of the Carbon Disclosure Project. This means that Mavi is one of the top 2% of the 21,000 participating companies worldwide when it comes to climate and water protection.

MAVI has set itself the goal of improving the entire value chain through sustainable practices and innovative solutions. Last year, the company had a significant progress: the proportion of sustainable all blue collection at turnover rose from 14% to 25%. In addition, MAVI was able to reduce 87% of the SCOPE-3 greenhouse gas emissions per added value and significantly increase the proportion of renewable energies in the operating facilities. Water resource management, chemical -controlled use and effective waste management also play an important role in Mavi's sustainability strategy

future goals

Mavi has set ambitious goals for the future. By 2030, the company is aiming to obtain 100% of its cotton content from sustainable sources. In addition, Mavi plans to be a climate -positive company by 2050 and thus actively contribute to the fight against climate change.

The all blue collection is the focus of Mavis sustainability initiatives. The products of this collection consist of certified organic, recycled and Better Cotton-licensed materials. By using technologies such as e-flow, laser technology and automated dosing systems, Mavi can reduce water and energy consumption and chemical use.
