Rocktreff 2025: Young bands rock the Mariendorfer Volkspark!

Mariendorfer Volksparkstation, 12109 Berlin, Deutschland - On July 9, 2025, the organizers are happy to announce the upcoming Rocktreff Festival. This event has been used as a platform for over 600 young bands since 1984 and has been established as one of the largest non-commercial newcomer festivals in Berlin. Every year, more than 200 applications are received by young musicians who hope to appear on the stage of the Mariendorf Volksparkstadion. This year, 16 talented bands from Berlin and all of Germany will present themselves, whose music genres range from rock to punk to metal.

The CPYE e.V. is actively busy selecting the 16 bands for this year's anniversary rock meeting. The event is organized by the Tempelhof-Schöneberg youth welfare office, in close cooperation with the volunteer crew of CPYE e.V. A large team of volunteers ensures the smooth implementation by taking over tasks such as the structure and breakdown of stages and stands as well as the cabling of light and sound technology. Support in the backstage area is also required. Interested helpers are welcome to report to become part of the event.

from the beginning to today

The first "Tempelhofer Rocktreff" took place on September 15, 1984 in the Mariendorf football stadium. This original event had no stage or catering, only a few dozen music enthusiasts were present. Michael Abou-Dakn, who founded the Rock-Ini with friends, was the driving force behind the event. It was only through the integration of the youth welfare office that the foundation stone for today's rock meeting was laid. The event has changed significantly over the years, but the basic idea remains the same: amateur bands to offer a stage and an audience. The rock meeting is still considered the largest amateur band festival in Berlin.

The preparations for the festival are intense and start on Monday before the event. On this day, a crew from 80 to 100 volunteers is needed to clear equipment from storage rooms and load trucks. Not only the stage is set up within four days, but also the backstage area and the game party, which takes place parallel to the rock meeting.

The game festival offers children at market stalls of around 30 educational and sports clubs as well as the youth welfare office the opportunity to try out various offers. It becomes particularly exciting when the participants complete a “game course” for which there is a surprise. Youth City Councilor Oliver Schworck emphasizes the importance of the rock meeting and game festival for the district and is happy about the support of local sponsors who promote the event.

This project of Orwohaus e.V. offers a central, informative and advisory point of contact for bands and young artists in Berlin. The team consists of experts with a musical background and offers individual support in all development phases as well as practical advice on topics such as studio finding, funding applications and tour planning.
