A storm brews himself together in political Berlin! The SPD will again get its old demand from the moth box: the reintroduction of wealth tax! With a view to the upcoming Bundestag election in 2025, the deputy parliamentary group leader Joachim Post announces that the Social Democrats intend to relieve around 95 percent of taxpayers by significantly reducing income tax. But the super -rich should be asked to pay vigorously!
But wait a minute! Isn't that the same SPD that has always had the chance to become active here since the asset tax was suspended in 1997? In the times of Gerhard Schröder, a neoliberal wind blew, and during the eternal coalition governments under Angela Merkel, they did not want to make themselves in common with left -wing opposition parties that demanded the same. The question remains: where was the SPD when it could rule?
SPD between rhetoric and reality
Strangely enough, at the coalition negotiations of the traffic light under Olaf Scholz, it was not to be heard a syllable that would have discussed the reintroduction of the wealth tax. When the acute financial nuts knocked on the door, the topic fell by the wayside. Even though the wealth tax is very popular among the population! Surveys always show clear majorities for this requirement.
But that's not all! At the international level, the G20 discusses a wealth tax for the ultra -rich super -rich. Here urgently needed funds could flow to finance poverty control and climate protection. But the SPD? She doesn't really seem to be interested in serious implementation. Instead, their shouting could only be a desperate attempt to operate PR for their own slipped survey values according to a new wealth tax and a "fair" inheritance tax.

The conclusion is clear: Empty promises are not a foundation for a successful political future. The voters have a right to honest politics - not on lip service! It remains to be seen whether the SPD learns from history and is willing to follow acts.
