Students: Discover Art: Exhibition Searching for Trips in Berlin!
On Tuesday, June 24, 2025, the municipal gallery Berlin opens the exhibition "Searching for traces - we leave signs". This special event will start at 10.30 a.m. and is accessible to the public until July 20, 2025. The exhibition shows works by pupils: inside of the Arno-Fuchs School, which specializes in the focus of the intellectual development funding. Through several workshops, the students were able to let their creativity run free and design both visible and invisible traces, which led to an impressive collection of works of art.
The workshops were designed by the artists Hannah Gieseler and Atalya Laufer in collaboration with the teachers Jacqueline Barvencik and Anke Rüther. During the creative process, the students used a variety of materials, including colors, brushes, printing techniques and even the photographic printing process cyanotype. Unusual materials such as soft toys, hangers, sponges, cork and toy cars also found their way into the works of art.
special features of the exhibition
The implementation of the project illustrates the commitment of the teachers: inside, who are always looking for new methods to enrich the lessons. The cyanotype, a simple photographic printing technique, is ideal for students: inside and is used intensively in the workshops. This technology does not require a darkroom and only uses light and water to develop the images, which significantly expands the creative possibilities. Long exposure times and large fault tolerances make this approach particularly instructive for young artists: inside.
The cooperation with the studio in the municipal gallery Berlin and Sigrun Adam-Angermann shows how important it is to integrate various creative approaches into school education. The exhibition is aimed at making the creative skills of the students visible and thus also providing new impulses for art lessons. With the support of the project fund cultural education, admission to the exhibition is free and the premises are barrier -free. Visitors can find the municipal gallery Berlin on Hohenzollerndamm 176 in Berlin.
art education contextualization
The exhibition fits into a broader art education context that is discussed in the magazine Imago. This publication deals with central questions of teaching and learning in the art area and brings current research into school practice. Through the analysis and discussion of innovative teaching approaches, the magazine makes a contribution to the further development of art lessons, which becomes clear in the work of the Arno-Fuchs School.
Why is it important to promote such creative projects? The connection between art and education becomes increasingly clear: creativity contributes significantly to the development of cognitive and social skills. The thematic focus treated in the magazine Imago ranges from diversity to the specific requirements of children with impairments, and the need for a wide range of support offers in the classroom are repeatedly emphasized. All of this shows how important it is to consider art not only as a subject, but as an integral part of comprehensive education.
