The Commission to determine the financial requirements of the broadcasting facilities (KEF) recommends that broadcasting fees in Germany increase by 58 cents to 18.94 euros per month. Stephan Brandner, deputy federal spokesman for the Alternative for Germany (AfD), criticizes this recommendation and instead calls for the full abolition of the contributions. Brandner argues that public service broadcasting should shrink healthy instead of continuing to burden the citizens financially. Brandner emphasizes that the AfD, as soon as it is in a state responsibility in a federal state, will terminate the broadcasting state contracts and will work towards basic care without forced fees. He describes the content of the public service broadcast as "propagandaeme mentions" and criticizes the high payment of those employed there.
The KEF recommendation to increase broadcasting fees has potential effects on the citizens in Berlin. In the event of an increase of 58 cents, the monthly costs for the radio fee would increase to 18.94 euros.
