The spectacular exhibition "Impulse Rembrandt. Teacher, strategist, bestseller" brings the masterpieces of one of the greatest genius of painting directly to us! With incredible 142 works, including about 60 masterpieces by the Baroque artist Rembrandt Harmensz. van Rijn, the city becomes a stronghold of cultural excellence!
Imagine: Art from fifteen different museums worldwide! From New York to Paris to our own German art scene - the loan is a truly global ensemble. Visitors not only expect a trip through time, but also a tailor -made lighting concept that makes the works shine in new splendor. Rembrandt's pictures that live from emotions and drama transform the exhibition into visual fireworks!
Rembrandt - the teacher of the emotions
Rembrandt (1606–1669) is one of the most influential painters of his time. He was not only a master of his guild, but also a sought -after teacher: over 40 students flocked to his workshop, who quickly established himself as the Mecca for emerging painters. The reason? Rembrandt's unique ability to capture not only technology, but also feelings in pictures. With him, the students learned how to stage biblical stories so that they touch the viewer deeply.
The show shows exciting comparisons between Rembrandt's own works and the experienced imitation of its students. At that time it was a challenge to distinguish originals from imitations - and that is exactly what can be experienced again! In “Rembrandt's Studio”, visitors can even become active themselves: Here it is felt, sniffed and experimented. Together with artist Anna Haifisch, a creative interior of the interior was designed that is particularly suitable for younger art lovers.
a touch of history
But the fascination of Rembrandt doesn't stop here! Did you know that banker Gottfried Richter in Leipzig put together one of the then largest collections of Dutch painting in the 17th century? After his death, these treasures are scattered worldwide. Rembrandt's works were already very popular during his lifetime and the demand remained gigantic even after his death!
The valuable exhibits are sensitive, however - high humidity can harm you! Therefore, the number of visitors is limited. Therefore, secure your online ticket in good time for an unforgettable visit that you shouldn't miss! There are also public tours - perfect for everyone who wants to learn more about Rembrandt's secrets.
Celebrate the 20th anniversary of the new building of the MdBK with us and enjoy the breathtaking exhibition under the patronage of the ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. The associated catalog is already available at the museum treasury and in bookstores - a must for every art lover!
