Volunteer Award 2025: Nominate committed neighbors now!

On August 27, 2025, the Reinickendorf district office announced the awarding of this year's volunteer award. This year, the award is taking place for the third time and aims to recognize the commitment of individuals and teams who work for the common good. This includes people who are actively involved in clubs, social institutions, cultural projects or neighborhoods. The nomination period ends on October 1, 2025, and the award ceremony will take place on December 1, 2025, as berlin.de reports.

This volunteer award is awarded in three categories: senior citizen work, youth work and an annual changing focus, which this year is dedicated to the topic of “neighborhoods”. Interested citizens are invited to submit suggestions by email to Ehrenamt@reinickendorf.berlin.de or can be addressed by post to the Reinickendorf district office. The postal address is: District Office Reinickendorf of Berlin, Volunteer Representative, Eichborndamm 215, 13437 Berlin. If you have any questions, you can call (030) 90294-2141.

Review of the last awards ceremony

The last award ceremony took place on December 18, 2024 in the foyer of the Ernst Reuter Hall. During the festive setting, district mayor Emine Demirbüken-Wegner presented awards to committed citizens, such as the young person Emilia, for her tireless commitment to the “no offside!” initiative. was appreciated. Their dedication in various programs of this organization was highlighted during the district office's traditional Christmas celebration. Demirbüken-Wegner emphasized the central importance of volunteering for the community and praised the selfless effort and commitment of the volunteers.

The event was part of a series of activities promoting volunteerism. This is also reflected in the successful implementation of the first volunteer exchange in May, which was intended to strengthen networking and the visibility of volunteer work. The LAGFA (State Working Group of Volunteer Agencies) supports such initiatives by forming a network of volunteer agencies, centers and volunteer offices in Berlin. Its goal is to show the diverse possibilities of engagement and to promote civic engagement as a driving force for appreciative cooperation, as lagfa.berlin reports.

The commitment in Reinickendorf can be seen as a positive example of actively helping to shape a Berlin worth living in. The combination of recognition and support for voluntary work helps many people in the region come together to actively shape their surroundings.
