Together for a greener Berlin: Progress in the "Climate Caucie" project

The city of Berlin is on the right track to improve the quality of life in different parts of the city. A significant step in this regard is the research project "Climate Kakieze". This project aims to promote a sustainable neighborhood by creating climate -friendly neighborhood blocks. In this context, 600 invitation letters were recently sent to the residents in Antonkiez and the northern Luisenstadt to enable them.

A crucial element of the "climate kite" is the integration of the residents by neighborhood councils. These bodies consist of groups of 15 to 20 people who jointly develop concepts for their neighborhoods. In the coming months, neighborhood councils will be several days to deal with topics such as traffic safety, climate protection and the general quality of life. This initiative not only promotes exchange among residents, but also a constructive cooperation with scientific support.

The district councilor Christopher Schriner: "With the neighborhood councils we are going new ways of participation. Together with the resident, we want to find solutions to make public space more secure and worth living." This statement illustrates the endeavor to take the concerns of the citizens seriously and to integrate into the planning instead of fueling controversial discussions.

The project is funded by the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Security and Consumer Protection (BMUV), which underlines state support for environmentally friendly initiatives. Cooperation with renowned institutions such as the team of researchers at the Helmholtz Center Potsdam and the University of Heidelberg ensures the scientific foundation of the approaches. The long -term goal is to create a more livable and sustainable city in which a harmonious neighborhood is promoted.

The citizens are called to actively participate in this process. The first meetings of neighborhood councils take place in October of this year, followed by further meetings in November and spring/summer 2025. Online participation also enables even more residents to bring their voice.

For the future, it is crucial that the residents contribute to the design of their surroundings. Projects such as "climate king" are not only important for the immediate living environment, but also exemplify an increasing citizen participation in urban planning processes. If you want to learn more about the initiative, you can visit the websites of Antonkiez and the northern Luisenstadt.

In a time when sustainability plays a central role, this project shows how an active and cooperative community can not only influence its own district, but also the entire city. Everyone has the opportunity to make a contribution - together for a greener and more livable Berlin!
