Railway renovation of Treskowallee: New asphalt for less noise

One of the largest construction site projects in Lichtenberg is progressing! On Monday, April 15, 2024, the district office started the renovation of the western lane of the Treskowallee, namely between Waldowallee and Rheinsteinstrasse. In the weeks and months before, the Berlin water operations tirelessly worked on the drinking water pipes. But what really happened here?

The adventure began in September 2022: The first part of this huge construction site was set up to make the necessary preparations for the water pipe work. The initial departures were carried out, but the decisive work of the water operations is a long time coming! There were unexpected delays- the water and sewage pipes were not where they were actually shown! A nightmare for the construction workers, which resulted in countless plan changes and time losses.

A bad surprise came in the summer of 2023: a reduction in groundwater was required! And that despite the fact that this was not listed in the original building basic report! Here the bureaucratic monster applies - the Senate Department for Mobility, Transport, Climate Protection and the Environment needed too much time to give approval. The time frame for the construction work was significantly exceeded. But now the water operations are about to complete their work - finally!

But that's not all! Immediately after the waterwork has been completed, the Lichtenberg district office started renovating the road immediately. Particular attention is paid to the use of noise -optimized asphalt - a measure that is supposed to drastically reduce traffic noise for residents. In the right weather, this phase is expected to be completed in the second half of October 2024.

But the challenges are not over yet! Following this work, modernization work urgently must be carried out in the area between Godesberger Straße and Waldowallee - the Berlin water operations continue their renovation train! This next large construction phase of Treskowallee Ost begins in mid -October 2024. And the forecast? The end of this tedious renovation work will probably not be achieved until the end of 2025.

An exciting, but also chaotic chapter in the history of the Treskowallee - the residents have to be patient, while the excavators and trucks continue to drive across the street. But the hope of a modernized and noise -reducing street on the horizon remains!
