The specialist laboratories in Germany, represented by the association accredited laboratories in Medicine (Alm) e.V., are responsible for the daily care of hundreds of thousands of people. Laboratory diagnoses are essential for almost every patient who is treated by a resident family doctor, specialist or hospital. About two out of three diagnoses are based on laboratory medical examinations or are confirmed by them. The laboratory medical services therefore play an important role in patient care in both outpatient and inpatient areas.
In order to emphasize the importance of laboratory medicine for the prevention and early detection of common diseases, the diagnosis of rare diseases and therapy control, doctors of various departments in film contributions and live on site present examples from their care practice. In this way, the variety of laboratory medicine is made clear and shown how laboratories ensure safe and high -quality patient care every day.
