Art and health: Exciting events in Berlin from December 1st!
On December 1, 2025, World AIDS Day, there are numerous events on the program in Berlin that deal with art, therapy and health. The focus is on the upcoming conversation and film screening as part of the exhibition “on the move”, which will take place on December 6, 2025 at the station urbaner kulturen/nGbK Hellersdorf. Auerbacher Ring 41 in 12619 Berlin will be the venue for creative and social debates.
The coming week also offers a variety of interesting tours and discussions. On December 2, 2025, there will be a guided tour of two subway stations on the U5 line, which begins at Schillingstrasse subway station. On December 3rd at 6 p.m. there will be a discussion about the relevance of art prizes in the Kommunale Galerie Berlin. The gallery in Körnerpark will then offer an exhibition tour with Klara Hülskamp on December 4th.
Art and psychotherapy
In the context of art therapy, the Sigmund Freud Private University of Berlin recently organized a conference that took place on October 13th and 14th, 2023. This conference addressed the interface between art and psychotherapy and was part of Mental Health Week 2023. The event, which dealt with the therapeutic use of visual art, aimed to depict experiences, feelings and thoughts and to communicate conflicts and problems.
The conference was led by Prof. Dr. habil Georg Franzen and Prof. Dr. habil. Karl-Heinz Menzen led and asked relevant questions about the ability to prescribe art therapy in clinical and social psychiatric areas. Lectures by well-known experts, including Prof. Dr. Kathrin Seifert and Prof. Dr. habil. Ruth Hampe, provided insights into current developments and challenges in art therapy.
Medical aspects and safety
Another important aspect that should not be missing from the discussion about therapeutic measures are drug treatments, especially when it comes to ENTYVIO® (active ingredient: vedolizumab). This medication is used to treat moderately to severely active ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease. However, it is important to note that ENTYVIO should not be taken if there is an allergic reaction to the medication or its ingredients.
The possible side effects are serious and include allergic reactions and an increased risk of serious infections. Symptoms such as fever, muscle pain, and difficulty breathing should not be ignored. Doctors advise discussing any medical conditions in advance to ensure safety during treatment. Early feedback to the FDA about negative side effects is also important.
On December 7, 2025, the last day of the “Paradise” exhibition will be celebrated in the Kunstforum Berliner Volksbank Foundation, which can be visited on that day from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. with free admission. This event rounds off the week of communication and exchange about art and health in Berlin.
