The 6th Cultural Summer Festival will take place on September 20, 2025 Old malthouse in Lichtenrade. On the occasion of the district's 650th anniversary, a diverse program is being offered that is intended to appeal to young and old.
The festival is organized by the Office for Further Education and Culture in Tempelhof-Schöneberg organized and starts at 3 p.m. The district mayor Jörn Oltmann, district councilor Tobias Dollase and other local figures will open the festival. The events last until 8 p.m. and include live concerts by ensembles from the Leo Kestenberg Music School and the popular salsa band Mi Solar.
Diverse program for all generations
The cultural summer festival program offers a wide range of activities. Creative workshops, guided tours and offers to get to know languages and digital technologies are on the agenda. The stage program will also feature live music from various genres – from pop to jazz to Latin. A special highlight will be the salsa band Mi Solar, which will perform from 7 p.m.
Numerous attractions are planned for younger visitors, including face painting, balloon modeling and a children's show with TOM-TOM. Theater performances such as the street show “Amelia” by Theater Kazibaze and the mask play “AHOI!” from TheatreFragile, round off the offer.
Revitalization of the old malting house
The Old Mälzerei, built 120 years ago and now a landmark of Lichtenrade, is currently being revitalized and plays a central role in the city's development. With the aim of creating a new urban center, 200 apartments and educational and cultural facilities will be built around the building. Some of these apartments will be available to people with a residence permit. The UTB Project Management GmbH is responsible for project development, which is supported by funds from the Active Centers urban development funding program.
District Councilor Tobias Dollase expressed his delight at the opportunities that the festival and the revitalization of the Old Mälzerei bring to the community. The aim is not only to create a place for culture and education, but also to promote the economic and urban structural strengthening of Lichtenrade.
Admission to the cultural summer festival is free, and everyone interested is invited to discover the numerous cultural offerings and celebrate together. A program booklet can be downloaded online to get an overview of the many activities.
