Kreuzberger Weinlese: Frost, wasps & quality! Hurried: white and red wine available from Hofgrün & FHXB Museum Gärtnerei
Last weekend the traditional wine harvest took place in the ViktoriaPark on the Kreuzberg. Despite the challenges of frost, mildew and wasp, a gratifying amount of around 170 kilograms of Riesling and 80 kilograms of Pinot Noir could be harvested. Although the yields were somewhat lower this year, the quality of the wine is exceptionally good.
The grapes are now carefully processed in order to create both white and red wine. Interested parties can acquire the Kreuzberg wine for a donation from the Hofgrün nursery in Methfesselstraße 10-12 or in the FHXB Museum in Adalbertstraße 95a.
The wine tradition on the Kreuzberg originated in 1968 when the twin city of Wiesbaden gave the district of five vines of the Riesling variety. Over the years, other generous gifts from various partner cities, including Kreis Bergstraße and Ingelheim am Rhein, followed. These contributions have contributed to the diversity and quality of the Kreuzberg wine.
The Hofgrün nursery in Methfesselstraße 10-12 or the FHXB Museum in Adalbertstraße 95a is available for further information on the wine harvest or acquisition of the Kreuzberg wine.
