Fascinating vernissage: Christel Bachmann invites you to meditate in pictures
Christel Bachmann’s upcoming exhibition “Meditating in Pictures” opens November 6, 2025 at the Mark Twain Library. This exciting show shows works by the artist that were created between 2022 and 2025 and reflect her artistic work method and the time of their creation. Visitors are invited to take time to have meditative experiences and immerse themselves in the world of images that deal with emotional and social themes.
Christel Bachmann, born in Penzin in 1946, is a versatile German painter, ceramist and graphic artist. Her studies in art education at the Ernst Moritz Arndt University of Greifswald shaped her artistic career. There she also came into contact with important artists such as Otto Niemeyer-Holstein and Carl Hinrichs, who inspired her. Her career as a freelance artist began in 1979 after moving to Berlin, and she has been running her own gallery in the capital since 2004. Through her work she addresses social issues and social changes and often uses emotional motifs to encourage her viewers to think.
Thematic diversity of the exhibition
Among the outstanding works in the upcoming exhibition are various images that touch on different topics:
The opening will be accompanied musically by Thomas Krüger and will give visitors the opportunity to engage with the works of art in a special atmosphere. Anyone interested can register for the opening by calling 54 704 145 or sending an email to Inés Bartel. Admission is free, although a donation to the Marzahn-Hellersdorf City Library Support Association is requested.
Bachmann's work can not only be admired in the upcoming exhibition, but also in numerous solo and group exhibitions over the years. Her artistic work is honored both in Berlin and in various public collections. Due to her wide range of techniques, ranging from oil and acrylic painting to graphics, she manages to find a unique style between abstraction and representation.
In a world that is often characterized by hectic pace and unrest, the exhibition “Meditating in Pictures” offers an excellent opportunity to pause and allow your thoughts to calm down. The focus on meditative aspects of art is a sign of the relevance of inner reflection in today's world.
