Committed Pankow residents wanted: Apply for the Youth Welfare Committee!
The Pankow Youth Welfare Office is currently looking for committed people to join the child and youth welfare committee. This was announced in a recent press release from the Pankow district office. We are looking for a citizen's deputy as well as an advisory member with a professional connection to youth welfare in order to ensure sophisticated reporting and advice for young people and their families. This call for applications falls under the 8th electoral period, which is scheduled to last until autumn 2026 and is in accordance with the legal regulations of the Social Code VIII, which regulates the tasks and structures of youth welfare in Germany.
The citizen deputies are selected from recognized independent youth welfare providers, youth associations and welfare associations in the Pankow district. It is important that these representatives are voting members of the committee. Those interested in joining as an advisory member should have appropriate professional proximity to youth welfare. The right to propose candidates for this office lies with the above-mentioned providers and institutions that are active in the area of girls' work or integration assistance.
Requirements for applications
In order to apply for the advertised positions, those interested must have their main residence in Berlin. The application letter must include the full name, contact details including email, the associated sponsor or association and the main topics for the committee work. Applications can be submitted both by post and by email. The postal address is Pankow District Office, Youth Welfare Office, Youth Welfare Director, Berliner Allee 252–260, 13088 Berlin. The email address for applications is claudia.kinzel@ba-pankow.berlin.de. Applications must be received by June 13, 2025.
Participation in the committee is planned for the duration of this electoral period, which is expected to be five years, which represents a valuable opportunity for the delegates to become actively involved in shaping and improving youth welfare in the district.
Background to youth welfare
Youth welfare in Germany is based on this Social Code VIII, which, among other things, emphasizes the right to education and the responsibility of parents. It defines the tasks of youth welfare and promotes cooperation between public and private youth welfare. The focus is also on the participation of children and young people in decision-making processes in order to protect their interests and needs.
The commitment of citizen deputies and advisory members is essential for the further development of youth welfare in the Pankow district. They help ensure that the support offers are tailored to needs and qualified, thus ensuring the best possible support for young people and their families.
