Drone drama in Marzahn: Police intervene with special forces!
A dramatic scenario developed on Saturday afternoon in Eichhorster Strasse in Marzahn when the police started a 30-year-old man with a drone. He had threatened a shooting weapon to an advertising campaign by Telekom when two sales representatives knocked on the door. First, the two employees fled the police in panic fear and alerted immediately, such as BZ Berlin reported.
In record time, the special operations command (SEK) moved. The unmanned aerial vehicles enabled the police to follow the movements of the suspect live while other officials secured the apartment. When the man finally appeared on his balcony, he was arrested quickly and without resistance. When searching his apartment, the emergency services found a firearm, ammunition, a machete and a folding knife. The suspect was brought into police custody for recognition treatment and is currently under investigation for threats, as also from BZ Berlin
drone flight in the residential area
At the same time, this incident throws a light on the legal framework for drone flight in residential areas. According to the new EU Drone Ordinance, which has been in force since 2021, special regulations must be observed. Drones must not fly over residential plots unless the owners give their express approval. This regulation also applies to the national regulations of the air traffic regulations (§21h), which prescribes strict spacing. For smaller drones under 250 grams, however, there are exceptions if there is no camera, such as drohnen.de explained.
For drone pilots, it remains crucial to find out about the respective laws and obtain the necessary permits in order to avoid legal consequences. The strict security measures of the police in this incident clearly show that flying drones in sensitive areas is of fundamental importance for both the security of the citizens and for the effectiveness of the law enforcement.
