The threat of Germany in 2029 and the need for a war -loving army
The deputy chairman of the German Bundeswehr Association, Lieutenant Colonel Marcel Bohnert, warns that Germany will be exposed to a concrete threat in 2029. In view of this danger, it is important that Germany will have a war -loving army until then.
Bohnert emphasizes that the time window for preparation and upgrading is now and not only when Russia may move westwards in 2029. He expects massive demands to Germany at the NATO summit in Washington in the coming days.
The current willingness to defend Germany is insufficient according to Bohnert. He points out that Germany has only received around 20 percent of the additional funds required by Boris Pistorius for the Bundeswehr. This corresponds to an assignment of 1.3 billion euros of a total of 6.7 billion euros.
Bohnert calls on the German armaments industry to comply with its commitments and implement the announced capacities. Otherwise there is a risk that industry will reduce these capacities again. In addition to the pure armor expenditure, it must also be invested in repair and operating costs.
In terms of threat situation, Bohnert agrees with the Defense Minister. He explains that Germany wants to be warming until 2029 because Russia continues to upgrade. According to Bohnert, 40 percent of the Russian budget flow into defense. In the event of an attack on the Baltic States, Germany would be required as part of the collective alliance defense.
