Memorial march of the Bundeswehr: Soldiers honor fell -like comrades

FOR FOR FOR THE Bundeswehr soldiers completed a memorial march through Berlin and Brandenburg. They reminded of their fallen comrades and caused a sensation. The march formation finally reached the capital on Thursday. This was a special photo motif for the tourists at the Reichstag and Brandenburg Gate.

The march took place for the sixth time and is intended to commemorate the fallen and deceased of the Bundeswehr. Lieutenant Colonel Marcel Bohnert, Vice-President of the Bundeswehr Association, said that this year's march was the start to direct the public interest on veterans for a few months.

The marching route extended over 116 kilometers and 3477 meters. These symbolize the number of fallen (116) and died (3477) soldiers and civilian employees of the Bundeswehr since 1956.

The march started at the Lehnin military training area in Potsdam-Mittelmark and initially led through the forest of memory in the operational command in Geltow. At the last stage, the participants were accompanied by bereaved and marched past the Reichstag building and the Brandenburg Gate to the Colonel of the Bundeswehr on the Bendlerblock. There the march ended with a wreath laying.

The memorial march was initiated by the reservist working group Military Brotherhood Germany (RAG MBG) in the reservist association and supported by the Bundeswehr. The response has been great since the first implementation of the march, many reservists and active soldiers wanted to participate. However, the number of participants had to be limited.

The march consciously takes place in public in order to give the soldiers who died in the service for society a place in public commemoration. This should contribute to the culture of remembrance, according to the reservist association.

The Memorial March of the Bundeswehr is therefore an important event in order to honor the merits and willingness of the soldiers for society and to strengthen the awareness of veterans.
