Federal Council misses chance: Asbestos protection measures remain insufficient
In a heated meeting on October 18, the Federal Council voted on the amendment of the Hazardous Substances Ordinance. But instead of the long -awaited all -clear when dealing with the harmful fabric asbestos, it remains dangerous! Despite all efforts and appeals, the countries did not follow the pioneering proposals that demanded a clear responsibility for builders. Something is going wrong here!
Criticism comes from the ranks of the construction industry: Felix Pakleppa, general manager of the Central Association of German Construction Management, sees the decision to effectively protect people and the environment in the decision. "When dealing with asbestos, special measures for the protection of workers and third parties are more than overdue - nobody can rely on the lazy solutions here!" So Pakleppa interprets the explosive location of the industry, which is responsible for 90 percent of the renovation measures.
opportunities wasted: builders in responsibility!
The demand for a clear regulation, which forces builders to explore as best, has been ignored! While the national asbestos dialogue has been advising on this for years, the builders are still on the brakes. "Course -related samples could not only guarantee security during the construction work, but also simplify the entire process for everyone involved. Delays or even construction stops could therefore belong to the past," continued Pakleppa.
But instead, all entrepreneurs must continue to dig and carry out separate samples, even when working identical! This not only brings additional costs for the prompters, but also disputes, supplementary demands and enormous delays. Every building that deals with asbestos runs the risk of stalling - a nightmare for all actors.
a call to the turn!
"It is painful that this opportunity for real improvement was not used," emphasizes Pakleppa and hopes for a quick implementation of the expansion application of the federal states. The political decision -makers are now required! Only through binding measures can the dangerous handling of asbestos in the construction industry be designed safely and smoothly.
In the middle of this heated debate, one thing remains clear: the construction industry urgently needs clear rules and responsibilities to ensure the protection of people and the environment when dealing with asbestos. A clear "no" to inactivity is the only way to a safe building future!
Will the federal government wake up and take the necessary steps? Time is pushing!
