Apartment fire in Marzahn: Tenant taken to hospital with smoke intoxication

A dangerous house fire broke out in Marzahn last night! At around 6:30 p.m., a witness discovered thick clouds of smoke in the stairwell of an apartment building on Marchwitzastrasse. The fire department and police arrived immediately. The brave emergency services found the fire in the kitchen of an apartment on the fourth floor and were able to quickly extinguish it.

In the apartment, the rescuers met a 48-year-old, the tenant himself. He was suffering from smoke intoxication and was quickly taken to hospital. Fortunately, no other people were injured. The investigations so far point to negligent arson. A fire commissioner from the Berlin State Criminal Police Office has taken over the case and will now clarify the exact circumstances of the fire.
