Police arrest 94 people at an unauthorized gathering at Rosenthaler Platz
In the evening hours of yesterday, the police mobilized several hundred emergency services due to an unauthorized gathering in the context of the Middle East conflict. Called through social networks, around 100 people gathered between Rosenthaler Platz and Hackescher Markt. Right from the start there was verbal aggression towards the officials and there was no clear leadership of the meeting. The police asked those present to leave the area, although some evictions had to be enforced.
During the clashes, forbidden slogans were chanted from the crowd. The police reacted promptly and arrested around 80 people. There were insulting statements, physical attacks and resistance to law enforcement officers. In total, measures to restrict freedom were taken against 94 people, including 70 women and 24 men. The police initiated 96 criminal proceedings, including on suspicion of using symbols of unconstitutional organizations and bodily harm. All those arrested were released after their identities were established.
