Riots in Mitte: Police stop pro-Palestinian protests!
Yesterday there was an explosive spontaneous gathering in Berlin, triggered by pro-Palestinian calls. Around 5 p.m. around 60 people initially gathered at the Marshall Bridge, but the police had suggested another location, the Schiffbauerdamm, for the meeting. The attempt to move the group was chaotic - the participants ignored the requests and instead sat on the road and sidewalk. Police forces intervened forcefully by carrying away the protesters.
The number of participants quickly grew to around 100, and the situation continued to escalate: forbidden slogans were loudly spoken, which led to police action against suspects. As a result, there were physical confrontations in which a press representative was attacked. A total of 29 people were provisionally arrested - 15 women and 14 men - after a series of incidents that led to 30 criminal charges, including insults and assault. However, after the operations, all those arrested were released and fortunately the police were uninjured. The event led to delays in S-Bahn operations as some protesters headed towards Friedrichstrasse station.
