A serious accident occurred in Pankow early in the morning when a driver hit a 61-year-old pedestrian and then simply drove away. At around 5 a.m., the unknown man drove a dark car along the Prenzlauer Promenade and turned right onto Granitzstrasse. The pedestrian, who was crossing the street when the light was green, was struck by the vehicle.
The driver continued driving contrary to traffic regulations, while the pedestrian suffered serious injuries to his head, pelvis, arms and legs. An ambulance took him to a hospital, where he requires inpatient treatment. The police have entrusted a specialist traffic crime commissioner with the investigation into the fleeing driver.
